RST Launches TeamRST for 2026 Isle of Man TT
For decades, RST has been synonymous with protection, performance, and a deep connection to the world’s most demanding motorcycle races. In 2026, that relationship with the sport takes a bold new step forward. The brand has officially announced the creation of TeamRST, its own race team set to compete at the legendary Isle of Man TT.

The Announcement.
For the first time, RST will step onto the grid with its own team—moving from supporting the field to now also competing within it.
The Legend.
Leading the charge will be 16-time TT race winner Ian Hutchinson, who will campaign BMW Superbike and Superstock machinery in what promises to be one of the most intriguing new entries on the TT grid.
For RST, the move represents far more than a race entry—it marks a landmark moment in the brand’s history and a natural evolution of its long-standing relationship with the event.

From Protecting Riders to Competing with Them
A new chapter.
RST’s presence at the TT is nothing new. As the Official Safety Partner of the race, the brand has played a vital role in protecting competitors around the 37.73-mile Mountain Course for years. Its leathers and safety technologies have become a familiar sight across the paddock, worn by many of the riders tackling one of the most dangerous and exhilarating races in motorsport.
However, the formation of TeamRST signals a significant shift in that role.
For the first time, RST will step onto the grid with its own team—moving from supporting the field to competing within it. It’s a development that underlines the company’s ongoing commitment to the TT and its broader philosophy of developing rider protection through real-world racing at the highest level.
By running a team in the sport’s most extreme environment, RST gains a unique opportunity to push its products even further—testing materials, protection systems, and race equipment in the ultimate proving ground.
And there are few proving grounds tougher than the Isle of Man TT.

Hutchy Brings Experience and Pedigree
16-time TT winner.
At the centre of the project is one of road racing’s most respected figures. Ian Hutchinson’s name is etched into TT history thanks to an extraordinary career defined by determination, resilience, and race-winning speed.
With 16 victories at the Isle of Man TT, Hutchinson has repeatedly proven himself as one of the most formidable competitors ever to tackle the Mountain Course. His achievements include the famous clean sweep of five TT wins in a single week back in 2010—a feat that remains one of the most remarkable accomplishments in modern road racing.
Over the years, Hutchinson has become known not only for his speed but also for his technical understanding of the sport. That experience makes him the ideal rider to spearhead the TeamRST project as it builds its programme from the ground up.
Campaigning both BMW Superbike and Superstock machinery, Hutchinson will be tasked with helping shape the development of the bikes, the equipment, and the wider race operation as the team prepares for its debut TT campaign.
His knowledge of the Mountain Course—its rhythms, risks, and relentless demands—will be invaluable as the team sets out to build a competitive package capable of performing on the world stage.

Building a Competitive Package
The Bike.
Success at the TT rarely comes from a single element. Instead, it’s the result of a finely balanced combination of rider ability, machine performance, and technical support.
TeamRST will therefore rely on a carefully assembled roster of industry-leading partners, each contributing specialist expertise to the project.
Key technical and performance partners include Arai, EK Chain, D3O, Motul, In&motion and Quad Lock.
Each partner plays a role in ensuring the rider, machine, and support systems operate at the highest possible level—from lubrication and drivetrain efficiency to helmet technology and rider protection systems.
The project is further supported by collaborators including PBR Sprockets, Focused Events, BMC and SMR Performance.
Together, these partners form a technical backbone that will help develop the motorcycles, optimise race performance, and support the team’s broader infrastructure as it prepares for one of the most demanding competitions in motorsport.

A Statement of Intent
Ultimately, the creation of TeamRST represents far more than a single race entry.
It’s a statement of intent from a brand that has spent years working at the forefront of rider protection and performance apparel. By launching its own team at the TT, RST is placing itself even closer to the heart of the sport—where innovation, engineering, and rider bravery meet at the very edge of what is possible on two wheels.
For Ian Hutchinson, it’s an opportunity to lead a fresh project at the event that has defined much of his career.
For RST, it’s a chance to take everything it has learned from years of protecting riders and channel that experience into building a competitive team capable of taking on the toughest race in the world.
And for fans, it promises an exciting new storyline as the countdown begins toward the 2026 edition of the Isle of Man TT.
Further updates on TeamRST, including technical developments, testing progress, will be revealed in the lead-up to race week. 🏁🏍️
